CinemaEast showcases an engaging selection of feature films, shorts and documentaries approaching social, cultural and political themes from the Middle East and their diaspora. Films are selected on the basis of (1) cinematic quality, (2) the film’s contribution to a diverse festival in terms of countries, issues and ideologies, (3) cinematic styles and genres that are region specific. The program features both new and older films, emphasizing on work that receives little visibility in the United States.

CINEMAEAST NEW YORK: SPRING SEASON

Thanks for making our first season of CinemaEast a success!

CinemEast is currently presenting a nine month-long film series, held in collaboration with the Department of Middle East Studies at New York University. CinemaEast features a diverse array of films from the Middle East and their diaspora. The program is showcased in New York and is scheduled to travel to film and art institutions throughout the country. 

The film series takes place every other saturday, beginning January 31, 2004.
All screenings and panel discussions are held at the Cantor Theater at New York University
