Synopsis:
 
Intelligent, alluring, and as complexly interwoven as the passing glances, familiar greetings, and critical stares in a crowded Parisian café, Ephèbes et Courtisanes is a highly literary exchange of passages and thoughts on the merits and vices of loving girls or loving boys culled from Arabic poetry, scripture, and science, both ancient and modern, including such sources as Rumi and Abu Nuwas. In Arabic and French with English subtitles

Filmmaker’s Biography:
 
Oleg Tcherny was born in 1971 in Minsk, Belarus. From 1993 to 1997 Tcherny Studied Visual Arts at the Académie des Beaux-Artes in Düsseldorf, Germany in the class of New media and Performance with Professor Nan Hoover. From 1996 to 1997 he passed a year of practical study in cinema production in Tokyo, Japan. He served as “assistant de tournage” on many productions including the films of Kiyoshi Kurowsawa, experimental films by Hiroyuki Ooki, and television series in the “Samourai-Drama” vein for NHK. From 2002 to 2004 he worked with The National Fresnoy Studio of contemporary art in France.
