Bio:
Jean-Pierre Lledo was born in Algeria in 1947. He completed his
film direction studies at the Moscow Institute of Cinema in 1976
and has since written and directed many award-wining films. He worked
in Algeria from 1977 until 1993, where he made two fiction films,
Lumières and L’Empire des Rêves
(1989), and many documentaries, of which two were censured and never
broadcast: Le Flambeau Brûlera Toujours and Comment
Ca Va (1978). The negatives of Comment Ca Va have
disappeared. Lledo was forced to leave Algeria for security reasons
in June 1993. In France he made Algerias, My Phantoms (2004)
and An Algerian Dream (2003) which won First Prize for
Documentary Film, Montreal 2004 and was selected by many festivals
including San Sebastian, Cambridge, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Paris
and Locarno. |
