Egypt, 2005, 15 min, Beta SP US première A visually stunning adaptation from a banned short story of the same title by renowned Egyptian writer Youssef Idriss, House of Flesh casts a widow who believes that her daughters' prospects for finding a husband would improve if there were a man in her house and so agrees to marry a blind young sheikh. In the house brimming with pent-up sexual desire and longing, the presence of the blind man becomes a spark of fire in a dry field of grass. In Arabic with English subtitles.

Filmmaker Bio: Rami Abdul Jabbar studied film and animation production in England for five years. He graduated in 2001 with a BA (Hons) Film Degree from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. Rami received a number of awards for his short films during his studies at college from the likes of, The Kodak Student Commercial Film Awards (U.K) for Best Creativity and Shots Magazine (U.K) for New Directors. Rami lives and works in Cairo as a freelance director for independent and corporate production companies. |
