ArteNews continuing its new quarterly
series with a special feature by guest editor Sarah Rogers,
"Political
Art".
In certain historical contexts, the always
present relationship between art and politics takes on added
urgency. The contributions to this edition of ArteEast’s
online journal underscore our contemporary moment as such
whether the focus is on Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, the Occupied
Territories, or the U.S.

The Virtual Gallery presents artist Alessandra
Sanguinetti this month.
ArteEast is excited to present the premiere of new
work by renowned photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti. Sanguinetti’s
color photographs of places and people in Palestine are
unique and compelling because they highlight liminality
– of childhood, of old age, of living between what
is staged and what is spontaneous, of living locked in an
uprooted existence.
