Biography:
Maha Mustafa was born in Baghdad in 1961 and lives and works in Malmö, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Her works range from small-scale objects to installations and monumental sculptures. In her work, Mustafa explores the fragmentation of nature and seeks to bridge contrasts, shades of light, and degrees of heat in various artificial materials. and the human body and the latter’s transformation into a machine. Her works have been shown at art museums and galleries in Sweden, Europe, USA and the Arab world. She has worked on many public monuments in Sweden and is the recipient of numerous prizes and grants, including The Arts Grant Committee, Sweden 2004, The Cultures Grant of The Swedish Bank 2004, Darat Al Funun Residency Fellowships 2004, and Skåne Culture Grants, Sweden 2003.
