Biography:
Babak Salari is an award-winning photographer who has been living and practicing in Montreal, Canada since 1983. He received the Canada Council for the Arts award for his current project Children of the Diaspora (2003) as well as for his project Triangle of Desire (2002). He has exhibited his work in a numerous of group and solo exhibitions in Canada, France, and the United States, including UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Richmond Center in California, La Grande Place, Complexe Desjardin, in Montreal and Katherine Mulherin Gallery in Toronto. Babak Salari’s work was also featured in numerous publications, including Maclean’s, Canada’s leading Anglophone magazine; Séquences, a magazine on cinema; Nuit Blanche, a literary magazine; Refuge Magazine, A Voice for Refugee; and the Montreal daily The Gazette. In addition, he was co-organizer of the Iranian Diaspora Film Festival in Canada, and worked as a volunteer photographer with Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the world).
