Biography:
Riad Sattouf was born in Paris, but spent most of his childhood the Middle East. Thanks to his grandmother, he was able to read French comics. He took on drawing from a young age and put out several unpublished short stories. He then studied applied arts and completed a degree in film animation at the École des Gobelins. His first professional comics work was the 'Petit Verglas' series in collaboration with writer Corbeyran. The first album of Sattouf's second series, Les Pauvres Aventures de Jérémie' (2003), which he both wrote and illustrated, won the René Goscinny prize. Sattouf’s other published works include "Le pays de la soif" (Dargaud), "Manuel du puceau" (Bréal), "Ma circoncision" (Bréal), and "No Sex in New York" (Dargaud). Sattouf lives and works in Paris.
