Bio:
When I was younger, I never considered art as a profession. Where I came from, art was something one does as a hobby whereas college was to study something serious in order to land a stable job. I majored in business marketing and worked in advertising, which was my window into a creative environment. My career in this field lasted 8 years, until my craving to paint was getting so severe that at the age of 29 I traveled to Barcelona to participate in a contemporary art workshop. What was supposed to be a three month break turned into a way of life and I have been creating art full time ever since. Receiving recognition for my work has certainly helped me take myself more seriously. Today, I finally can call and consider myself an artist. My inspiration comes in many ways, from material I find and collect to ephemeral details that easily go by unnoticed. I don’t abide by a specific signature style in my work, as I believe that each project is a new and separate world which has its own rules, language and technique. I become a chameleon that adapts to that world in order to explore it. Probably all my life of living in different countries and trying to fit into other cultures influenced this flexibility. Coming from such a mixed background, I am also interested in ways my work can bridge the gap between different cultures.
