Souad left home when she was ten, Leila raises her five children by herself, Hanane impersonates Fifi Abdou in front of her TV, Mona would like to become a “good girl”… From all over Egypt, these girls, wives and mothers dance for a living. At the hairdresser, at home, at weddings, in nightclubs, on- and offstage, the film follows them and tries, through their words, laughter and scars, to show the struggle under the makeup, behind the dance.

Filmmaker's Biography
Célame Barge is a film scholar and director based in Cairo, where she works as Production Coordinator for El Ayn Production, as well as a researcher at the French Center for Demographic, Economic, Juridical and Social Studies (CEDEJ). She holds a Ph.D. in geography from CEDEJ/University of Reims and is currently producing two new documentary films, Prostitutes and Salam Palestine.
