POW 57187 by Vahid Zara Zade. Iran, 2007, 29 min, DVCam, U.S. Premiere
An Iraqi prisoner captured during the Iran-Iraq war has lived his entire adult life on the grounds of an Iranian prison. Though he has been officially released, he continues to decorate the prison’s buildings with murals, continually changing them to fit shifting politics. With minimal supplies and great imagination, he has pieced together a museum of life-size sculptures and dioramas that reflect his experiences and those of his fellow prisoners.
