Opening of Art Works by Contemporary Arab ArtistsDarat al FununSeptember 18, 2009 Darat al Funun is pleased to announce an exhibition of unique works produced by a selection of Arab artists that have previously exhibited at Darat Al Funun. The selected works on display range from young emerging talents such as the Jordanian-Lebanese artist Raed Ibrahims Lebanon’s postwar landscape series "Urban Sites", to works by well established Arab artists including Berlin-based Syrian artist, Marwan Kassab Bachi. Marwan’s watercolor paintings, created in 2001, depict the artist's obsession with expressive faces, while the 1989 paintings and prints by Paris-based Syrian artist Ziad Dalloul are characterized by his artistic style, forms and color. The exhibition also features lithographs by Najia Mehadji, linocuts by Mohammad Shaqdih, monoprints by Rashid Diab and etchings by Salem Al Dabbagh, as well as new mixed media works by the Jordanian artist Hakim Jamain. |
